Next IceCreamSandwich Custom Rom for HTC Desire S. This time with HTC Sense 4.0 “light”
Two weeks ago I wrote about the first HTC Desire S Custom Rom with Sense and based on the newest “Android 4.0.3 IceCreamSandwich”. It was not the best what HTC has in there pockets. HTC will come with a complete rewrite of Sense to launch with the next gerneration smarthphone series “HTC One XL, X, S and V“. Everybody is longing for the new “Sense 4.0″.
Now we have more. Proxuser, the fabulous developer known from xda-developers, did the next step in porting the newest rom-Version to older/other devices. His rom is based on a “HTC One V” rom, which was leaked some days ago.
Proxuser tried to build it as multi-device-rom like you probably know from Virtuous or RC-Team, but this was not really successful, cause of massive downloading which nearly caused a crash of his server and tons of comments, which can´t be handled by one user itself.
He made the final decision to let others port his rom to other devices and focused his work for HTC Desire S. A good decision i think, to improve quality and feedback.
The Rom itself is nearly working for everybody’s daily use. There are some problems left like camera, WiFi hotspots and more…
Here are some screenshots:

HTC Sense 4.0 in this “light” version of “HTC One V” is a dream. It´s fast, there are no lags in scrolling or swiping or whatever and it feels like you´re having a new phone in your hands. There is no need for overcloking in my point of view. Even with 1GHz single Core CPU super-hero-fast.
HTC cut some things of like 3D launcher and widgets in the version of the “HTC One V”. Perhaps because it´s the casual device and not there flagship. The “Sense 4.0″ version on the “HTC One X” has much more features like lockscreen-themes and widgets, a better weather app and 3D features in launcher and homescreen-widgets.
In the 2 videos on the end of this article you can compare both versions. Sense “light” and Sense “full”. The “full” version runs on a “HTC Sensation” and is a port of a “HTC One X” rom.
Now the only question is, when did we have a full working rom, without bugs and the known tweaks. Well, I will guess that it will take some weeks until the hard working devs and chef will get it fully ported and working. Remember… all the guys which are doing this stuff do that in there free time. So don´t ask them for ETA´s or when bug XYZ will be fixed. At first we need kernel sources for kernel 3.0 or a official original HTC Desire S ICS Rom which will come via OTA in spring as HTC promissed on there own blog.
